Canon IXUS 970 IS

Canon IXUS 970 IS is an ultra compact and lifestyle offering from the stable of Canon. A 10 MP ultra-compact camera, this one has 37-185 mm lens with 5x optical zoom capability. It is also called ‘Telephoto IXUS’. Its attractive features include 2.5-inch LCD with max resolution of 230,000 pixels, elegant sleek design, 1/2.3-inch 10 MP CCD, 19 scene and shooting modes with the option of color swap and color accent presets. 970 IS comes with SD/MMC card slot and rechargeable battery (NB-5L) for power.

The Canon IXUS 970 IS is a good bargain in departments of features, looks and performance. Other attractive features of this camera is; 5x optical zoom lens with OIS, face detection, advanced face detection, high ISO quality, track features and image stabilization system. These attractive features will help you in taking great pictures as well as keeping things simple. One can use various scene and shooting modes to produce great quality images with desired effects. Even pictures taken in low light condition come out good, using its LCD and appropriate flash distance.

The Canon IXUS 970 IS will cost you Rs. 17,900 with a one-year warranty. The price seems a bit on the higher side considering the fact that, you can have Sony T77 for less price. In terms of looks, style and video shooting, T77 scores heavily over 970 IS.  However, Canon will give you better image quality and several attractive features as well. Downside factors include, uncomfortable on/off button and optical viewfinder which lefts much to be desired. Its control dial is also not up to the mark. But its biggest drawback is high price.
